Dr. Megan Miller (she/her)

Chief Physician Recruiter
Medical Society of Prince Edward Island
902-218-1667
Email: megan@mspei.org

When Megan Miller finished her medical degree at Dalhousie University, she and her husband Dr. Scott Wotherspoon began looking for a place where they could both have rewarding careers, a fulfilling lifestyle, and a safe place to raise a family. They found that by moving back home to Prince Edward Island in 2011.

Dr. Megan Miller is a Palliative Care Physician, MAiD provider, and mother of three children (and two dogs). In 2021, she accepted the position of Chief Physician Recruiter to bring a physician perspective to the recruitment team and harness the collective strength of her colleagues to recruit more doctors to the Island. She says she is fortunate to work with an excellent team of dedicated people who feel passionately about health care on PEI and put in 100% effort on a daily basis. The work is challenging in the midst of the human health resource challenges that are impacting communities across the country, but she has found a good work-life balance on PEI.

In her words, “PEI is a wonderful place to live and work – it offers the ability to have a very rewarding medical career, including medical education and leadership opportunities, along with a safe, welcoming, and interesting community in which to live.”

Fun Fact: Megan enjoys being outside with her family, walking the dogs on one of the Island’s great trails or beaches – rain or shine – in any season.

Alison McQuillan (she/her)

Recruitment Assistant
Recruitment & Retention Secretariat Department of Health and Wellness
902-620-3874
Email: akmcquillan@ihis.org

Alison McQuillan grew up in Vernon River, PEI, but began her career in Alberta where she lived for six years. She moved home in 2017 to raise her children here and be close to family.

As the Province’s Recruitment Assistant, Alison is the first point of contact for physicians who reach out looking for opportunities on the Island or who are applying to a specific position. She coordinates site visits, interviews, recruitment conferences, and financial incentives. While she says recruitment is a long game and there are many steps to finding the right physician to offer care to fellow Islanders, it’s rewarding to be part of the process and help others discover all of the wonderful things about Prince Edward Island.

In her words, “PEI has so much to offer within its welcoming communities. It’s a safe place to raise a family with excellent sporting programs and a lot of year-round activities to choose from. Within our healthcare system, we have amazing staff and great facilities to work in.”

Fun Fact: Outside of the work she is passionate about, Alison can be found either coaching her two children in sports or enjoying PEI’s beaches in the summer. In the winter, she’s at the rink either playing hockey herself or watching her kids play.
